Canistel, also known as eggfruit, is a tropical fruit native to Central America and the Caribbean. It has a round or oval shape and a yellow, orange, or red skin when ripe. The flesh of the fruit is soft and has a texture similar to a hard-boiled egg yolk. It is also yellow or orange in color and has a sweet, slightly nutty flavor. Canistel is often eaten fresh or used to make desserts, such as ice cream and pie. It is also a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and iron. When ripe, the fruit will be soft to the touch and have a slightly sweet aroma. It can be stored at room temperature until it is ripe, and then refrigerated until it is ready to be eaten.
